Even in today’s digitally-focused world, print advertisements still have the ability to capture an audience and effectively communicate a powerful message. Whether they are massive billboard designs or scaled-down magazine advertisements, these ingenious campaigns provide inspiration for all print designers. Although helpful software can boost a designer’s potential, a powerful concept makes the difference when it comes to print adverts.

1. Rolling Stone

made-of-rock

This striking, yet simple, print ad was created by DLV BBDO. The sleek execution of this design makes this ad stand out for the Rolling Stone magazine. With one smart tag line, “We are made of rock,” the design highlights the brand’s product and attitudes in an innovative way. The use of a signature style font helps to emphasize the music celebrity feel.

2. Volkswagen

When Volkswagen unveiled its Amarok product line, it hired an ad agency to highlight the vehicle’s ability to get 620 miles or more of driving with only one tank of fuel. Below, the ad agency, created a campaign that invited consumers to “turn on

[their] adventure.” To illustrate this unique concept, Below developed this creative design using the key grooves to form a safari image.

3. Duracell

When it comes to advertising concepts, Duracell’s “some toys never die” campaign takes the cake. The idea behind these print ads and designs doesn’t make sense at first thought, but somehow these just work…and work well! This concept, created by Grey, stands out and catches the eye of consumers. The print ads capitalize on a fresh and creative idea for promoting long-life batteries.

4. Powers Whiskey

whiskey-ad

As the second largest whiskey brand in the whiskey-obsessed nation of Ireland, Powers Whiskey can be proud of this print campaign. Taylor James Creative Production Studio partnered with professional photographer Andy Glass to create the inspiring elements in this design. The team combined Glass’s beautiful images with the whiskey glasses using some retouching and created an amazing, photorealistic design that highlights the honey notes, barley character and earthy tones found in Powers Whiskey.

5. B&B Hotels

b-and-b

Although most bed and breakfast advertisements are dull and unoriginal, Publicis, a creative agency in Germany, created something far from boring with its design for B&B Hotels. While the design takes a moment to sink in, its quirky style truly engages consumers once it does. This campaign also features a cheese sandwich, sausages and toast, but this one wins for its ridiculously creative egg yolk pillow.

6. Pilot

A Barcelona advertising agency called GREY went simple with this beautiful design for Pilot’s Water Resistant print campaign. The bright colours used in this nostalgic design draw consumers in and the text finishes the job. This text is especially identifiable with parents and instantly hits an emotional chord, but also speaks to an array of other consumers. This print advertisement is the perfect example of solid execution and strong purpose.

Good designers can help any product stand out in print advertisement. While internet marketing and social media continue to be important marketing tools, you should never underestimate the power of an excellent print advertisement!
